Three Loons headed towards snowy Milwaukee to compete in the 2014 CanAm Midwestern Championships (CMCs), a 3-day tournament that drew players from all over the US, as well as from South Africa, Great Britain, Canada and Columbia.

Katie played in the B Division on Chicks with Sticks, an all-women team put together from players ranging from Minnesota, Boston, Denver, San Jose, Washington DC and Atlanta.

Gurkan and Chris T played in the in the A-division on the Midwest All-Stars team with players from Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Despite never playing together before, Chicks with Sticks meshed well, with 3-4+ women on the bottom on every play, and fought extremely hard against all the mixed gender B-level teams. Opponents agreed that they were - by far - the best all-women team at the tournament!

The Midwest A team competed very well against the other regional teams and the international team. While they ultimately ended up losing to these teams and placing 5th, the team felt the Midwest has a lot of potential for growth in the coming years.

Both teams are optimistic about future CMCs, both competing in the mens regional team division and in a future womens regional division.
